Professor Jerry Flores Featured in U of T Impact for Research on Systemic Barriers Facing Indigenous Women

The Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto is pleased to share that Professor Jerry Flores is featured in the latest campaign of U of T Impact. The article highlights his research on the systemic barriers that affect the lives of Indigenous women and girls in Canada.

Professor Flores studies the intersections of race, gender, and social inequality. His work uses ethnographic and community-based approaches to examine how social institutions such as schools and the justice system shape experiences of marginalization. He also emphasizes the strength, resilience, and leadership of Indigenous women who work to create positive change in their communities.
