Biography

Anna Katyn Chmielewski is an associate professor of Educational Leadership & Policy in the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) and associate professor of sociology (status only). She holds a PhD in Education and MA in Sociology from Stanford University. Her research examines trends and patterns of educational inequality, both in North America and internationally. Specifically, she is interested in socio-economic disparities in academic achievement, school segregation, curriculum differentiation/streaming/tracking and the consequences of childhood inequality for adult skills and university access. Her research has been published in American Sociological Review, American Educational Research Journal, European Sociological Review, and Research in Social Stratification and Mobility; and has been funded by SSHRC, the Spencer Foundation, and the American Educational Research Association. She teaches graduate courses in quantitative methods and international comparative sociology of education.
