Biography
Professor Erickson’s teaching and research interests are (1) inequalities of class, gender, and ethnicity, (2) how these inequalities interact, (3) how they are related to culture and social networks, and (4) how networks and culture are related for both culture consumers and culture creators. Her most recent project is a study of the three largest ethnic groups in Toronto (White, Black, and Chinese). Topics include strong and weak ties within and between these three groups, the social sources of such ties, and the effects of such ties on the flows of different kinds of culture and on occupational attainment.
