July 14, 2022 by Hongyi Li

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Alicia Eads on her new tenure-stream position in the Department of Sociology with a cross appointment to the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources. Professor Eads received her PhD in Sociology from Cornell University and a BA in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Iowa. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the UofT Sociology Department between 2017 and 2018. Her primary areas of specialization are organizations and culture, organizational behaviour, and computational social science. Her current research examines economic inequality, the housing market, and financialization. Professor Eads shared that she is thrilled to be joining the Sociology Department in her new position. She noted, in particular, the strong junior faculty contingent and the vibrant research community. This summer she is kicking off a new research project on organizations and inequality. It involves collecting new data on organizations which operate in housing markets. She will also be teaching three undergraduate courses: Sociology of Organizations; Organizational Behaviour; and Housing Markets, Financial Crisis, and Inequality.
