We welcome Assistant Professor Harvey L. Nicholson Jr. to the St. George Department of Sociology. Professor Nicholson earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Central Florida in 2019. His primary areas of specialization include substance use behaviors, health disparities, the social determinants of health, race and racialization, and interracial relations. He most recently worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law at the University of Florida. Starting in the winter semester, Professor Nicholson will teach The Social Determinants of Health and Ethno-Racial Inequalities in Health. He looks forward to working with undergraduate and graduate-level students on topics related to race and health, and to developing their curiosity for sociological research.
