PAC (Practicum Annual Conference)

When and Where

Wednesday, April 06, 2022 9:35 am to 4:00 pm

Description

We are writing to invite you to the Practicum Annual Conference on April 6. We are hoping many of you will be able to attend in person (Room 240). It promises to be an intellectually rich event, with the aid of some coffee, treats and lunch. If you are not able to attend in person, you can access the event through this zoom link.

Our second-year PhD students develop an original piece of empirical research through the year-long Sociology Practicum course that culminates in this annual conference. It is a great opportunity to support these emerging scholars and to learn about some of the impressive and innovative work happening in our community.

The work of our students is wide ranging, with panels on: “Institutional Processes and the State”; “Constructing legitimacy, expertise and morality”; “Community and life transitions”; “Experiences of confinement, justice, and resistance”. The papers rely on a wide range of data sources and methodologies, including diaries, social media, interviews, longitudinal datasets, and more!

If you plan to attend in person and would like to join us for lunch (12:15 to 1 p.m.), please rsvp to Ann (ann.mullen@utoronto.ca) no later than Friday (April 1) at 5 p.m.

PAC Schedule April 6 2022

We hope you will join us!
